
Sandstone is defined as a quartz based stone that is clastic sedimentary stone, composed of particles or grains. It is a non-metamorphic sedimentary stone. When firmly cemented with Silica, sandstone could be correctly identified as quartzite. Sandstone on the Mohls Scale has a hardness rating between H=2 to H=6 depending on the mineral composition.
Sandstone is an excellent option for fireplace surrounds, chimneys, garden walls, and patio benches. This material is also readily available as vessel sinks as well.
